TECHNICIAN NATIONAL EXAMINATION (VTNE)
***CHANGES TO VTNE APPLICATION PROCESS***
Beginning with the January 19, 2007* test administration date, candidates wishing to take the VTNE will apply directly to the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) to register for the exam. Please go to the AAVSB website, www.aavsb.org, for exam applications and deadline information.
Please note that you must graduate from an AVMA or CVMA accredited veterinary technician program within six months of the test date to be eligible to take the VTNE. The VTNE application fee is $110.00 and is payable to AAVSB. This fee payment should be submitted to AAVSB with the exam application.
The application for licensure in Tennessee as a veterinary medical technician and total licensure fee payment in the amount of $85.00 must be submitted to the Board's administrative office at least forty-five (45) days prior to the examination date*. Licensure information is available at the Board's website located at www.tn.gov/health. Click on "Licensing", choose "Health Professional Boards", then select "Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners".
All VTNE candidates must apply for licensure and be approved by the Tennessee Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners in order to take the exam in Tennessee.
